3. Kai Forbath

One of the names tossed around before the Browns settled on Greg Joseph was reportedly Kai Forbath, who had worked out with the team several years before. He was never signed by the Browns but maybe coming back to him this time could lead to them landing a deal.

Forbath was originally a member of the Dallas Cowboys after signing as an undrafted free agent in 2011. He spent his entire rookie season on the injured reserve due to a quad problem he was having and then found himself out of work in 2012 as Dan Bailey secured the Dallas job.

He was claimed off waivers by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but didn’t make their opening week roster. He did have a good enough preseason to land with the Washington Redskins which is where he spent most of his career. Forbath has four successful seasons there, knocking in 87 percent of his kicks.

Since leaving Washington, he’s spent time with the New Orleans Saints, Minnesota Vikings, sand Jacksonville Jaguars. For his career, he’s made just under 86 percent of his kicks although he has had some problems with extra points.

He could be worth looking at considering his ability to consistently hit field goals, although the extra point concerns are similar to the problem they’ve had with Greg Joseph.
