2. Mike Nugent

The Browns could go for a veteran option in the kicking game, with someone such as Mike Nugent being an option. An Ohio native who starred at Ohio State, Nugent was a highly sought after kicker when he entered the NFL.

Drafted in the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the New York Jets, Nugent struggled some as a rookie before starting to perform well the following years. After back-to-back seasons of knocking in more than 80 percent of his field-goal attempts, he ended up losing his job following a quad injury. Jay Feely came in to replace Nugent while he was hurt, but performed very well and never gave the job back.

From there, Nugent bounced from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the Arizona Cardinals before landing with the Cincinnati Bengals. He played for them from 2010-2016 and was good on 81.8 percent of his kicks. Nugent has since been a traveling veteran and is in need of a home with this year.

He would be worth a workout considering he was 6-of-6 in 2018 with the Oakland Raiders and 7-of-9 the previous year with the Dallas Cowboys (while filling in for an injured Dan Bailey). He might not be automatic, but Nugent is steady and will bring stability to the position — something which is very needed right now.
