Safety (5): Damarious Randall, Morgan Burnett, Jermaine Whitehead, Sheldrick Redwine, Eric Murray

Damarious Randall has become one of the more vocal defensive leaders for Cleveland and was quite possibly the teams best addition via trade in 2018. Randall had spent the previous three seasons with the Green Bay Packers and proved to be a ball hawk for them at cornerback.

Once in Cleveland, he moved to free safety which was the position he played collegiately at Arizona State. The shift was great for his production and he ended up having the best season of his career.

His ability to strive at his original spot in the secondary is encouraging as they’re trying something similar with Morgan Burnett. Another former Packer, Burnett struggled last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers and was subsequently released.

Part of the problem was Pittsburgh playing him as a free safety despite strong safety being his natural position. He will return there with Cleveland and is slated to start next to Randall.

Thanks to the 4-2-5 defense that Steve Wilks will mostly feature means that the Browns will have three safeties on the field often, meaning Jermaine Whitehead will get plenty of snaps as well. This could also lead to them going deep at the position, but for now, we stick with five.

Sheldrick Redwine obviously makes the cut considering they spent a fourth-round pick on him this season. Eric Murray rounds things out and offers some flexibility as he can play safety and corner.
