Luke Willson – Tight End

As stated earlier, the Browns will likely be in the market to add to their tight end room, so they will likely look at a lot of different options. That will include veterans, and Luke Willson could be a target for the Browns.

Willson was released by the Oakland Raiders after catching two receptions for 10 yards during the preseason. The 29-year-old was the odd man out after multiple young tight ends emerged for the Raiders.

Willson has been known to be a well-rounded tight end in the NFL, even though he has started to bounce around the NFL. In six seasons, Willson has caught 102 receptions for 1,216 yards and 11 touchdowns in 86 games.

If Willson can become a versatile option for the Browns, he could become an attractive option. After releasing Seth DeValve and Joe Kerridge, Cleveland will need someone who can play some snaps as a fullback.

Although Willson has not done it very often, he has experience lining up as a fullback. If the Browns believe he can do it for more snaps in 2019, he could emerge as their tight end target.

Cleveland needs a tight end who can do whatever they ask of him. Because Willson has some experience moving around offenses, he may be what they need. He may not be much of a playmaker, but that is not the role the Browns offense needs. Instead, if he can be a solid blocker while making some plays in the passing game, he could fill a much-needed role.
