OG. Browns. Eric Kush. 1. player. 53.

Baker Mayfield will lead the offense and his play will help determine whether the Browns win or lose — which we already discussed. Also being thrown into that mix is Nich Chubb, the second-year running back who is fresh off a 996-yard rookie campaign.

His ability to move the chains with the ground game will help keep the Cleveland defense fresh, while also limiting their ground game simply by keeping them off the field. As important as both of these players are to the outcome of the game, they are also heavily reliant on the play of the offensive line.

In Week 3 of the preseason, that line struggled mightily. Mayfield was under constant duress and while Chubb wasn’t on the field, they did have Kareem Hunt out there and he wasn’t able to get anywhere — and that’s not normally the case for the one-time NFL rushing leader.

As for that offensive line, four of the five starters from their strong second-half run last season return with Joel Bitonio, Greg Robinson, Chris Hubbard, and J.C. Tretter all set to play in Week 1. The fifth starter is the one who will have the pressure on him.

Throughout camp and the preseason, the Browns were looking for a starting right guard and no one really stood out as a great fit. In the end, Eric Kush was named the starter but the team clearly isn’t 100 percent confident in him — as evidenced by their trade for Wyatt Teller, who could wind up taking the job down the road.

Until then, Kush needs to be at least serviceable. The entire offense can fall apart if one lineman struggles to hold off the defenders, which will put a lot of eyes on the veteran.
