Cleveland Browns Week 1 Prediction vs. Tennessee Titans
Summary: The Browns, since re-emerging in 1999 are 1-18-1 in season openers.
Now that that’s out of the way, time to move on from the past because the future is here.
Taylor Lewan not being there is a big loss for Tennessee, but there’s also reports that starting right tackle Jack Conklin is dealing with injuries as well. So players like Myles Garrett, Olivier Vernon, and Genard Avery should give Marcus Mariota fits.
Expect Marcus Mariota to make it a game though. He’s got a much improved receiving trio without Corey Davis, Adam Humphries, and the rookie A.J. Brown. Combine that with this being a contract year, you should believe we’ll see the best of Mariota yet.
But this looks like Cleveland’s year. They’ve got more talent on their starting-22 than they’ve ever had. There’s a lot of expectations for a first-year head coach, Freddie Kitchens, and beating a quality team like Tennessee would be a good start to that.
The run game will be a focus for both teams but I expect a quarterback battle that’s not being talked about much, and 1-0 start to the season.
Prediction: Cleveland 27, Tennessee 17
