Stud: Jarvis Landry

Jarvis Landry was expected to perform better in his second season with the Browns because of having his best friend Odell Beckham on the field alongside him. Instead of being the No. 1 receiver, Landry slid into the No. 2 receiver role, a role that suits him better.

That showed on Sunday, as Landry was able to make several chunk plays, despite seeing less targets than he typically would have last season. Landry caught four of his seven targets for 67 yards, with his longest reception going for 34 yards.

Landry was key in the Browns moving down the field for their only touchdown in the second half. Facing a 3rd and 16, Landry caught a 23-yard reception to keep the drive going. A play later, Landry caught a back shoulder throw from Mayfield for 34 yards, putting Cleveland at the 3-yard line. The Browns scored a touchdown a play later.

Landry’s biggest strength is his ability to make difficult catches in tight windows. He may not always create space, but he can make plays even when a defender is draped over him. That ability was key in catching the 34-yard reception.

He may be a controversial figure in Cleveland because of his salary. But nonetheless, Landry will be a vital part of the Browns offense, and he played a key role in helping the Browns on Sunday to score the limited points they did.
