1. The wake-up call came early

While the Browns themselves may never admit it, they believed this game was going to be easy. That was evident in how they played as they were ill-prepared for the Titans in Week 1.

A lack of discipline showed not only in their insane amount of penalties but also in the way they struggled to capitalize on drives and put points on the board.

As frustrating as it all was, the good news is this happened in Week 1. If the players were truly buying their own hype, then things could have been worse if they came out and found themselves winning convincingly.

Instead, they were fed some humble pie and will now go back to the proverbial drawing board to try to ensure this doesn’t happen again. An embarrassed team will now be on full display on Monday Night Football against the New York Jets — the very team they beat on Thursday Night Football a season ago in Baker Mayfield’s debut.

The season is a marathon and not a race. Cleveland was never going to finish 16-0, so starting out 0-1 isn’t the end of the world. They can bounce back and put together a few wins and quickly find themselves in the AFC North race.

It wasn’t fun and no one is saying the loss is good. However, the fact that it happened in Week 1 is much better as it gives them 16 weeks to try to get things figured out.
