No Darnold? No Problem. Because of mono, the Jets 2nd year quarterback won’t play, which means backup Trevor Siemian will start.

Not only is Darnold out, but starting receiver Quincy Enunwa is out for the year with a neck injury, running back Le’Veon Bell is dealing with a shoulder injury and a pair of Jets defensive starters, CJ Mosley and Quinnen Williams, will both play but are dealing with groin and ankle issues, respectively.

Cleveland’s biggest issues in their blowout loss to Tennessee was protecting their own quarterback and getting to the opposing team’s quarterback. Both of these issues look like they can be resolved, at least for this game because 1) The Jets best penetration comes from their interior defensive line, while Cleveland’s strength is their interior offensive line and 2) Trevor Siemian doesn’t have the mobility that Marcus Mariota has, which really hurt the Browns on defense.

Trevor Siemian is a solid backup but he’s not the passer that Sam Darnold is. Look this week for a lot of leaning on Le’Veon Bell in and out of the backfield and a lot of passes to Jamison Crowder.

Baker Mayfield and the Browns-O probably had a rude awakening and hopefully, the hype settled a bit and the team can enjoy the quarterback they know and love. Browns win and get back on track.
