The Daily Dawg Tags brings you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including what will happen with the wide receivers with Antonio Callaway.

The Cleveland Browns passing offense found its momentum on Sunday against the Ravens, with Baker Mayfield putting up 342 passing yards. He was able to do so without several weapons, including Rashard Higgins, David Njoku, and Antonio Callaway.

Mayfield knows he will have a little more help when they play against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football when Callaway returns from his four-game suspension. With the Browns wanting to stretch the field with their receivers, Callaway’s speed will be beneficial to the offense.

But with Callaway’s return, that means the Browns are going to have some decisions to make in the wide receiver room, or potentially elsewhere on the roster. The Browns have been carrying only five receivers on their active roster, which is bound to change with Callaway returning and whenever Higgins returns.

Browns face interesting situation at wide receiver entering Week 5 – Nick Shook, ClevelandBrowns.com

"Ratley is the intriguing figure of the group. He’s seen plenty of snaps, was targeted three times and made one catch for 10 yards Sunday. He also was nearly on the receiving end of what would have been one of the most impressive plays of the 2019 season, when Beckham received a double reverse, stepped up through two defenders’ tackle attempts and fired a missile to Ratley near the goal line."

It is fairly clear the Browns like Damion Ratley‘s talent considering the amount of snaps he has played with Callaway and Higgins on the sideline. He is also been a part of the offense as Mayfield has given him a fair share of targets. But with two receivers set to return soon who are above him on the depth chart, it would not be surprising to see his snap counts take a dip once Callaway and Higgins are back in full motion.

Baker Mayfield putting up stellar numbers against the Ravens

The Browns and Ravens are likely going to become an intense rivalry over the next few years as both teams will be at the top of the division every year. That has not bothered Mayfield, as Elliot Kennel notices Mayfield has been stellar against the Ravens in all three games he has faced Baltimore.

How Baker Mayfield stopped rolling into chaos and started throwing from the pocket vs. Ravens — Film Review – Ellis L. Williams

"His pocket poise, downfield eyes and confidence in his reads exemplified a return to the Baker of old, rather than the Mayfield who was rolling right, often into chaos, and bailing out of the pocket."

Mayfield had heard all of the talk about his poor performance early in the season, especially about his tendency to scramble into sacks. But like a good quarterback would do, he made the adjustments and it helped him and the entire offense put together a solid performance against the Ravens.

Reports of Browns demise were greatly exaggerated

After a slow start and losses to two playoff teams, the Browns were already being viewed as overrated and still ‘the same old Browns.’ Casey Kinnamon believes those reports of the Browns being the same old Browns were greatly exaggerated.
