1. MLB Joe Schobert

Last and certainly not least, the Browns must pay their man in the middle of their defense his fair shake, even after drafting two linebackers this past April. Joe Schobert continues to string together solid performances week-by-week for the Browns; this is not new information as Schobert has put together two quality seasons before 2019, including a Pro Bowl in his first year as the Browns’ starting middle linebacker.

On Sunday against the Ravens, Schobert took his game to an entirely new level, recording 17 total tackles, a sack, and two tackles for loss on the day. On Whitehead’s interception, Schobert was also tracking tight end Mark Andrews down the field, stride-for-stride, allowing the safety the luxury of hanging back over the top.

Not only is Schobert such a leader and luxury for the Cleveland defense, but Sione Takitaki, the man they drafted to replace him has not quite come along just yet and is only seeing the field on special teams after being drafted in the third round. It is time for the Browns to Scho Joe the money and keep him in Cleveland for the foreseeable future before he continues to put up solid numbers week after week in a different uniform.

Mack Wilson is currently filling the strong side backer role, so asking him to transition to the middle would be quite the ask for the rookie; besides, veteran linebacker Christian Kirksey is likely in his last season in Cleveland and the Browns will need Wilson to take over his role full-time next season.
