Offensive MVP – Running back Nick Chubb

Second year running back Nick Chubb was expected to have a great campaign in 2019. Having had several exceptional moments in 2018, he was expected to continue to progress and remain a force to be reckoned with on this explosive offense. Another full offseason with Baker Mayfield and Freddie Kitchens under his belt has really shown on the field too.

More from Dawg Pound Daily

Chubb has been one of the most consistent running backs in the league since he took over the starting job last season. Having averaged over five yards per carry as a rookie, he has produced the same average while getting almost seven more rushing attempts per game this season, according to NFL.com.

No. 24 has also kept his explosiveness that he showed last season, including an 88-yard rushing touchdown in the Week 4 win against the Ravens. All this has come with him being the most exclusive running back for Cleveland.

Through four games, he has 78 rushes on the season with four touchdowns. The next closest running back on the team is Dontrell Hilliard, who has seven rushes and two touchdowns on the season.

The former second-round pick out of Georgia has continued to work hard at his craft, and it is showing on the field. He’s improved his numbers all around this season, and is even third on the team with 14 catches, only trailing wideouts Odell Beckham Jr and Jarvis Landry. He has grown into a great security blanket for his quarterback and head coach.

Even with the eventual addition of Kareem Hunt to the active roster, Chubb should keep his starting job and numbers. His production will be hard to keep up for a full season, but Chubb continues to show he is a special talent who needs to stay involved.

Look for Cleveland to keep riding his hot hand, and in doing so, add many more numbers to the win column of their record as the season moves on.
