player. 42. . DE. San Francisco 49ers. DeForest Buckner. 2

DeForest Buckner is not the name at the top of the billing when it comes to the San Francisco 49ers defensive line, but he is definitely the driving force of that unit.

In a group that consists of Nick Bosa, Dee Ford, and Solomon Thomas you would think it would be hard to stand out, but not for Buckner. At 6-7 and 300lbs, Buckner; or “Dr. DeFo” as some of his teammates refer to him, is an absolute monster of a man.

The fourth-year product of the University of Oregon is listed as a defensive tackle, but defensive coordinator Robert Saleh lines Buckner up everywhere on the defensive line. Buckner is a disruptive force who can collapse the pocket single-handedly. His size and his short-area quickness make Buckner a problem for anyone trying to block him one on one.

Through three games this season, Buckner has two sacks and five hits on the quarterback. He also has two additional tackles for loss and nine solo tackles so far this season. He rarely loses at the point of attack and lives in opponent’s backfields.

Any extra attention the Browns offensive line is forced to pay to Buckner will undoubtedly lead to the rest of the 49ers plethora of capable pass rushers having big days.
