Keep the Pressure Off the Offense

In Week 4 against the Ravens, the Browns finally found their offensive identity in the form of big days from Nick Chubb, Jarvis Landry, and newly-acquired Ricky Seals-Jones.

In Week 5, they’ll be facing one of the best defensive fronts in football, loaded with first-round draft picks and highlighted by offseason acquisition Dee Ford. In order to win on Monday night, the Browns need to make sure Baker Mayfield stays upright, and keep pressure off of the offense.

With wide receiver Jarvis Landry already back from concussion protocol for Week 5, the Browns will have (nearly) all systems go on their offense for the first time this season. Receivers Rashard Higgins and Antonio Callaway will join up with the Browns in the Bay, leaving tight end David Njoku as the only missing piece.

Cleveland found what worked for them in their signature win this season against the Ravens, and Freddie Kitchens should stick to his guns in calling his offense. Kitchens’ museum of tricks was open for business in Week 4, and although most of the trick plays Cleveland ran didn’t work, they were able to keep Baltimore on their toes.

Baker Mayfield’s pocket presence was much improved against the Ravens, and the offensive line will need to hold strong to fend off the 49ers’ front. Keeping Mayfield and the offense in rhythm opens up a world of play-calling possibilities for Freddie Kitchens and Todd Monken.
