Cleveland Browns: 5 bold predictions vs San Francisco 49ers
There will be less than 50 combined points scored
As previously mentioned, both of these offenses can struggle at times and the defenses aren’t going to make it easy on them.
The Browns are average when it comes to scoring, ranking 15th in the league scoring 22 points per game. The 49ers average about 32 points per game, but that includes a blow out of the win-less Cincinnati Bengals. They’ve also scored two defensive touchdowns.
Both teams should have a strong focus on the running game. I already outlined how important Nick Chubb is to the Cleveland offense and the run opens up the field so they can get the ball to their talented wide receivers.
San Francisco also likes to run the ball with a stable of good running backs that includes Matt Breida, Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman, who is likely to return from injury this week.
The 49ers have also been one of the worst teams in the league with turnovers, and it’s hard to score if you don’t have the ball.
The Browns have only scored over 25 points once this season and it was last week against the Ravens.
It will be difficult for the 49ers to prepare for what they will see from Cleveland defensively. Although Denzel Ward, Greedy Williams, and Morgan Burnett have missed the last two games, they are listed as questionable so they may still play.
The factor that could send this bold prediction right out the window is the big play ability of the Browns offense.
Chubb exploded on an 88-yard touchdown run last week and Beckham has a 91-yard receiving touchdown this season. The 49ers also have big play ability with Matt Breida, who can absolutely fly down he field.
But I wouldn’t count on too many big plays against these defenses. Whatever happens there will be a lot physical play in this game.
