Okay, let me get this straight – it’s Week 5 and the Cleveland Browns are supposed to be intimidated by an ‘undefeated’ San Francisco 49ers team that’s not been playing for a week and that got two of their three wins off the floor of the AFC North basement?

Plus, the oddsmakers want to give me 5 points to sweeten the already sugary pot?

Ha! Sold. Put me down for $5. Hell, make it $10 , for the love of Dorsey. Put it all on the Browns +5 to win this Monday Night Football matchup against the ‘undefeated’ San Francisco 49ers.

Actually, I take that back. The Browns will beat the 49ers outright on Monday, if only because they’re so much better than the last two teams San Francisco has played and beaten, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals. Which is why I single-quoted the ‘undefeated’ twice. Well, three times including that one.

My prediction is that the well-rested and favorited 49ers, who most likely feel like wins are a given right now, will be caught completely off guard by the offensively gelling, nay, surging, Cleveland Browns franchise managed by the slowly maturing and talented Baker Mayfield.

Cleveland will also win because their run defense is solid and it will step up and shut down the 49ers’ excellent two-headed rushing attack. Plus, Myles Garrett and his quarterback-hating linemates will get after Garopolo (fast and repeatedly), forcing him to make ill-advised throws on the run, aka picks, that even the Browns backup secondary can snag.

The San Francisco 49ers are 5th best in the NFL against the run right now, so to beat them Nick Chubb and the Browns’ offensive line will have to have their biggest game of the season (so far).

Plus, it wouldn’t hurt if Mayfield could start connecting with OBJ a bit more often in this one.

And less than five total penalties, please.

Prediction: Cleveland 34, San Francisco 30
