Round 3, Pick 78: Trey Adams, OT, Washington

Yes, the Browns need offensive line help at the tackle position but expect sixth-rounder this year Drew Forbes to take over the right tackle spot next year, and they have options at right guard as Eric Kush has been serviceable with Wyatt Teller on the bench as well. This leaves left tackle as the main source of concern, that is unless the Browns fail to re-sign J.C. Tretter.

Letting Tretter walk would be a huge mistake as the guard-center-guard combination of the offensive line is far more important than tackles Joel Bitonio, Tretter, and Kush have given Baker a pocket to step up into if pressure is felt off the edge; good news, Baker Mayfield actually stepped up into the pocket as well last week against the Baltimore Ravens.

This could give the Browns the luxury to wait until day-two to address the tackle position, and in this mock draft, they land a tremendous and tall talent in Washington’s Trey Adams. While Adams has a bit of a weakness at run blocking, he is a stalwart against the pass, and in Kitchen’s vertical offensive scheme, he fits like a glove.

At 6-8 and 314 pounds, Adams has all of size and length in the world to extend on edge rushers and keep them from getting into his body. He has shown major improvements after returning to school and could keep moving up the draft boards; for now, he was available in the third round, so the Browns take him.
