Round 5, Pick 121: Zack Moss, RB, Utah

Let’s be real, are we convinced that Dontrell Hilliard or D’Ernest Johnson are the answer as the Browns’ second running back behind Nick Chubb? This writer, for one, is not convinced and think a running back on day three of the draft would be a good investment for the Browns, especially considering Kareem Hunt is here on a one-year deal and one slip up from being back on the free-agent market.

Utah’s Zack Moss is another high upside back who could fall due to an extremely talented running back class in the 2020 draft. Make no mistake, however, Moss has the talent and would be an excellent back to come in when Chubb needs a breather for this Browns’ offense.

Moss is coming off back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons for the Utes and is on pace for his third season as a senior in 2019. A highly productive back, Moss is averaging over six yards per carry for Utah over the past two seasons and is also on pace for his third season in a row with double-digit rushing touchdowns in 2019.

Should some team make Hunt an offer that the Browns are unwilling to match as an unrestricted free agent this summer, or should he slip up off-the-field again, a running back will be very much on the radar for Cleveland in the 2020 draft. Moss would be an excellent option if they find themselves in the market for a day-three back.
