Stud: Jarvis Landry

As stated earlier with Nick Chubb, there were not many positives to take away from Cleveland’s offensive performance, especially in the passing game. But the only positive from the Browns’ abysmal passing attack was the performance of Jarvis Landry (which to be fair, was not a stellar performance).

Landry was Cleveland’s leading receiver, catching four receptions for 75 yards. To put Landry’s performance in perspective, he caught almost half of Baker Mayfield’s completions (one of Landry’s receptions was from a Odell Beckham Jr. pass) and accounted for more than half of Cleveland’s receiving yards.

Landry was the only Browns receiver who managed to find space in the 49ers defensive coverage, which mostly relied on zone coverage. He was finding the holes of the defense and making himself available for Mayfield.

Landry also hauled in a tough sliding catch in the second quarter to move the chains and put the Browns in position for a touchdown. He also made a tough catch on the sideline and was able to keep both feet in-bounds to make the play.

Without Rashard Higgins, Landry is becoming Mayfield’s safety net. He is finding openings, but is also making catches in contested areas. For how poor the Browns passing offense has been this season, Landry’s performance has certainly been promising.
