It’s time for Ricky Seals-Jones to shine.

The Cleveland Browns will need to get production out of the tight-end position on Sunday. Normally, that wouldn’t be an option because of Seattle linebacker extraordinaire Bobby Wagner. In years past, Wagner has been an absolute stud in shutting down tight ends.

This season, however, Wagner has been targeted 24 times and given up an unbelievable 21 receptions. This is where Ricky Seals-Jones can make a huge impact for the Browns. Seals-Jones has serious skills as a receiving tight end and the Browns would be wise to utilize his ability in the passing attack.

The Browns need to get back to what has been successful this season on offense. A lot of that success, through the air at least, has come from run-pass option plays or RPO. By running RPO, it allows the offense to momentarily freeze the linebackers and attack the seams.

That would play into both Seals-Jones and Baker Mayfield’s strengths. Seals-Jones is an exceptional seam route runner with good run after the catch ability. Mayfield has always shown the ability to make throws down the seam with great accuracy. If the Browns can establish that area of the field, it will pull the safety towards the hash and leave the outside cornerback stuck with no help over the top.

The Browns should exploit the seams early in the game in order to set up big plays on the outside. In order to effectively do so, it will require a hefty dose of Ricky Seals-Jones.
