Stud: Nick Chubb

Probably the most frustrating thing about Cleveland’s lack of identity on offense is the fact that they have someone capable of giving them one. Running back Nick Chubb put together another fantastic day as he had 122 yards on 20 rushes with two touchdowns. He added another 17 on five touches, continuing to prove he can carry the load for them.

Now after six games, he finds himself second in the league with 607 yards on the ground, behind only Christian McCaffrey of the Carolina Panthers who has 618. He’s also tied for fourth in the league with six touchdowns but for some reason, the team seems to go away from him when they need him most.

This is especially evident when they get the ball inside the 10-yard line. Rather than handing the ball off to No. 24 in these situations, head coach Freddie Kitchens keeps trying to throw the ball — and the results have been beyond tragic.

Chubb has proven to be a workhorse, capable of getting 20-or-more touches without missing a beat. He’s not just a bruiser either as he’s shown he can break big runs when he gets into the secondary.

On Sunday, he did this when he ripped off a 52-yard run in the second quarter. That play moved them to the 31-yard line and was followed up with a touchdown to Ricky Seals-Jones. Cleveland needs to learn to lean on him even more, and if they do, things will get better for the struggling franchise.
