Round 1, Pick 14: Alex Leatherwood, OT, Alabama

Is there any surprise what position the Browns need to address in the first round of the draft this Spring? There shouldn’t be, at least, as the offensive line in Cleveland has been atrocious; here they take Alabama left tackle Alex Leatherwood with the 14th pick in the draft in hopes of plugging up some holes in the trenches.

With Greg Robinson on a one-year deal and looking like a turnstile, it is safe to assume that he will not be back in Cleveland next year. While Chris Hubbard, opposite Robinson, will likely also be on his way out, look for this years’ sixth-round pick Drew Forbes to take over that role in the future. Leatherwood will be tasked with starting right away, but with significant time in the SEC, it should be a feat he is capable of.

Only one position of the offensive line is locked down at this point, with J.C. Tretter set to become a free agent after this season as well. Drafting an offensive lineman seems like a non-negotiable at this point in the season for the Browns as Mayfield has spent a ton of time on the run and on his back through the first portion of the season.
