3. Antonio Callaway

Antonio Callaway almost got left off the list considering he just returned from a four-game suspension a couple of weeks ago, but he has been so bad and the offense needs his production so I couldn’t leave him off.

Now it seems like I’m picking on the passing game but they are the 20th ranked pass offense in the league. The receiving corps was considered a strength of this team coming into the season, which makes that ranking a huge letdown.

They have a passing game’s best friend, a great running attack. Nick Chubb has been an absolute beast coming out of the backfield, he’s second in the league in rushing.

As a rookie last year, Callaway gave the Browns offense a big-play threat to pair with Jarvis Landry who is more of a possession receiver. Then they added OBJ, who can break a game wide open in a variety of ways.

Those two guys get a lot of attention from defenses which opens things up even more for a guy like Callaway. You saw that when he was wide open on the goal line in his first game back versus the 49ers. Of course, he dropped the ball and it was intercepted.

In his two games, he has been targeted seven times and only made two catches for 22 yards — and keep in mind, this is a guy who led the team in touchdowns a year ago.

Callaway is a talented player and he has to ability to take the pressure off of some other guys. It’s hard to be in football shape without playing football so he deserves the benefit of the doubt for that. So we will see what he looks like after the bye week.
