Larry O and Big Sheldon

In order for the Browns to affect Tom Brady, both Larry Ogunjobi and Sheldon Richardson are going to have to have huge impacts. Brady does not have many chinks in his armor, but one that he has shown is his inability to deal with pressure up the middle.

Brady’s ability to climb the pocket and remain calm, even in chaos, is one of his biggest attributes. But if the Browns’ defensive tackles are able to bring pressure up the middle and push the pocket, they can get Brady off of his spot. Making Brady uncomfortable in the pocket has to be the primary objective in stopping this Patriots’ offense.

At this stage in his career, it is near impossible to blitz Brady without the veteran getting you to show your hand first. If the Browns are able to generate pressure with their defensive tackles, it will keep them from having to blitz Brady.

Of course, getting sacks on Brady is the ultimate goal. But for Ogunjobi and Richardson to have big games, they don’t even have to rack up statistics. If they are able to make Brady get rid of the ball quicker than he wants to, then they will have done their job and everyone else on the defensive side of the ball will benefit from it.
