Keep the Run Game Going

This year, Browns running back Nick Chubb has become a truly elite threat in the backfield for Freddie Kitchens. At fourth in the league in rushing yards, Chubb has ripped off a number of long runs this season against various defenses. The Patriots are more than any old defense, but keeping Chubb’s legs churning is imperative to the Browns’ game plan.

It’s hard to find a soft spot in New England’s defense, but if it’s going to be created anywhere, it should be in the running game. The Pats’ secondary duo of brothers Jason and Devin McCourty are controlling the NFL’s top passing defense. The front seven, however, is just a little bit more vulnerable, and the Browns are going to have to take what they can get against the defensive mastermind that is Bill Belichick.

Giving Chubb multiple looks in Week 8, in multiple different formations, increases the chances of somehow confusing New England’s defensive front. With rumored changes on the offensive line, Chubb should be looking at some new guys in front of him when he runs in Foxborough. It might not be the ideal situation against the Patriots’ defensive line, but if anyone can make something out of nothing for the Browns, it’s Chubb’s power run game.
