Keep It Close Early

The Patriots’ point differential this season is absolutely staggering. Along with their 7-0 season record, they are outscoring their collective opponents by 175 points this season. What’s most interesting, however, is their consistently hot start on both sides of the ball. Through the first quarter of their seven games this year, the Patriots are outscoring opponents 70-7. The Browns cannot fall victim to this.

Cleveland, with the immense amounts of talent on their roster, clearly likes to play with a sort of swagger that can only come from consistently solid performances. The Browns will be getting their starting cornerbacks back on the field this season, and Denzel Ward and Greedy Williams will play a massive role in keeping Tom Brady and the passing game relatively quiet.

If the Browns can get into the late stages of this game close enough to wrestle it away from the Patriots, it might be all they need. Tom Brady is an all-time great closer, maybe the premier closer in the history of the NFL, but the Browns have the talent to snatch this one away from here. Sure, it isn’t exactly likely, but a big Myles Garrett play here, a long run from Nick Chubb there. It’s improbable, but not impossible. Keeping the game close into the third and fourth quarters greatly raises Cleveland’s chances.
