Jermaine Whitehead was waived this week after he went on a Twitter tirade littered with death threats following his poor play and the Browns loss to the Broncos. In addition, Damarious Randall has been hurt for a large portion of the season, and even when he has been on the field, he has been playing poorly; Randall has been graded out at a replaceable 61.2 according to PFF.

Face it, Randall will not be back next year either, so the Browns are now in the market for two safeties this offseason. Adding a guy with plenty of college experience, athletic traits, solid production, and who pops on film means the Browns likely found a day-one starter. Ashtyn Davis from the University of California is that guy for the brown and orange.

Davis just accepted his invite to the Senior Bowl down in Mobile this coming January, so the Browns will be able to get an extended look at him. He could be one of the better safeties in this class, and as a former track and field star, he is going to show up huge at the scouting combine in March as well.

Keep a close eye on Davis as he will soon be on the radar, if he is not already.
