In a span of three plays, Robinson whiffed on two blocks which practically let an unblocked defender get in the face of Mayfield. Mayfield was not sacked on either occasion, but it left him vulnerable to hits he should not have taken. In the first quarter, Jerry Hughes almost forced a turnover after going untouched around Robinson.
Robinson’s biggest issues come against speed rushers as they are able to run the loop right around him if he cannot get his hands on the rusher. That is what caused problems for him on Sunday and it has been his biggest issue all season.
The Browns offensive line showed improvement Sunday and were not as much of problem as they were earlier in the season. But the performance of Robinson is still a concern, and being benched has not been as much of a wake up call as the team would have hoped. But with the Browns starting to find an offensive identity, the coaching staff could start to use scheme to help the offensive line.
