Stud: Morgan Burnett

With Pittsburgh trying to drive and get into the game, they were trying to get a first down on a third-and-1. Just past the 50-yard line, the Steelers ran it with Trey Edmunds, who was stuffed for a one-yard loss as Morgan Burnett came flying in to blow up the play. The Steelers then went for it on fourth-down and Larry Ogunjobi got pressure on Mason Rudolph and forced an incompletion.

That was the second big play in the first half made by Burnett, who was ready to play against his former team. The previous drive for Pittsburgh also ended with Burnett making his presence felt. Facing a 3rd-and-12, Rudolph fired it deep for Johnny Holton.

Burnett was able to catch up to the wideout and git his hand in the way to break up the pass. Cleveland got the ball on the very next play as Pittsburgh punted it back to them. Ahead 7-0 at this point, the Browns put in another score to go up by two touchdowns.

Burnett then made another big play as he found himself in perfect position to record his first pick as a Brown. Denzel Ward broke up a flea-flicker that was intended for Tevin Jones and the ball floated in the air — right into the hands of Burnett. He ran d it back 43-yards which put Cleveland in scoring range, but Austin Seibert missed the kick which cost them a shot at points.

Unfortunately, Burnett was injured late in the half and was unable to return. But that doesn’t take away from the strong start he had to this game.
