Christian Wilkins

Christian Wilkins is quietly putting together a very impressive rookie campaign. The talented defensive tackle is proving to be worth the first-round flyer that the Dolphins spent when they selected Wilkins with the 13th overall pick.

At 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds, Wilkins is a prototypical three-technique defensive tackle. He plays with quick violent hands and is able to disengage at the point of attack. Wilkins also plays with better leverage than his height would indicate.

Wilkins was the third defensive tackle selected behind Quinnen Williams and Ed Oliver. So far this season, Wilkins has outplayed both Williams and Oliver.

Wilkins is leading all rookie defensive tackles in the NFL with 20 solo tackles, and his 36 combined tackles are the most by any rookie defensive linemen. Nick Bosa is second with 32 combined tackles.

Wilkins is proving to be extremely stout against the run, which was his calling card as a standout prospect at Clemson University. The rookie defensive tackle hasn’t been able to develop his pass-rushing skills at the pro level as of yet; he has one sack and two quarterback hits on the season. All of those came against the New York Jets in Week 9.
