3. Chad Thomas

A lot of Browns fans know about Chad Thomas, he has been getting a lot of playing time lately because of the injury to Olivier Vernon. His role becomes even more important with the indefinite suspension of Myles Garrett.

Thomas, a second-year player out of Miami has three sacks and three quarterback hits in just a couple of starts. He has shown a lot of promise coming off the edge but he will have to pick up his production to replace Garrett’s ten sacks.

This week Cleveland will also be without Larry Ogunjobi who is second on the team with five sacks, that is a lot of production sitting at home.

Thomas seems to have the talent to be a star in the making and this is the week to do it. The Dolphins have one of the worst offensive lines in the league allowing 42 sacks this year, the most in the NFL.

They traded their best tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Houston Texans before the season and their current starting tackle Julien Davenport is dealing with an injury and is uncertain for Sunday’s game.

Thomas’ presence will also be important this week because anything Miami has done offensively this year has been on the arm of Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Browns secondary should have an advantage against the Dolphin receiving core that is not very deep.

Sheldon Richardson should get most of the attention on the defensive line so Thomas should face some one-on-one blocks and he has to get pressure in those situations. If he can get two sacks in this game he can announce himself as an impact player for the rest of the season.
