Dud: Greedy Williams

Cleveland believed they got a steal when LSU cornerback Greedy Williams fell to them in the second round. So far, however, he hasn’t lived up to the expectations the team had for him.

The rookie missed four games with a hamstring injury and has yet to create a turnover while breaking up just two passes in the games he has suited up for. In Week 13, he was routinely picked on and didn’t fare well when challenged.

One series specifically stood out as he was beaten deep on a pass from Devlin Hodges but was bailed out by fellow rookie Sheldrick Redwine who slapped the ball away from James Washington

Then on the following play, Williams allowed wide receiver Tevin Jones to get past him and he pulled in a deep pass for a 28-yard gain.

Williams ended up leaving the game with a shoulder injury and his backup made a play once he was given a chance. Terrance Mitchell entered the game and was in a perfect position to haul in an errant pass from Hodges.

He then returned the interception 28 yards which gave the offense a great opportunity to get back in the game. Unfortunately, they went three-and-out and were still a score behind.

Don’t be surprised if Mitchell starts to see the field a little more than Williams going forward.
