Stud: Chad Thomas

Second-year defensive end Chad Thomas — also known as MajorNine —  has been better than expected this season. He was constantly criticized by the fan base after being selected in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

It was hard to defend him during that season as he never recorded any statistics as he dressed for just four games. Thankfully, this season has been different.

He made his fourth start of the year and was able to impact the game early. Pittsburgh was facing a 3rd-and-6 on their opening drive and Devlin Hodges dropped back for a pass attempt but never got a chance to throw the ball as Thomas pushed his way into the backfield for a sack.

That gave Thomas four on the season, three of which have come over the past four games. His production has been huge for the Browns as they’ve had Olivier Vernon out for a few weeks dealing with an injury — and he had to leave the game this weekend after finally making his return.

Now with Myles Garrett out for the remainder of the season, they’ll continue to lean on Thomas as a starting defensive end. Hopefully, he will be able to continue his solid development.
