Picking the weakest link on the Browns roster this season isn’t hard. Their offense has some explosive playmakers such as Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, OBJ, and Jarvis Landry. The problem is, their offensive line doesn’t consistently allow them the time they need to make the necessary plays to win the games.

This season, Greg Robinson was retained as the left tackle but John Dorsey knew it was a gamble rolling with him. Despite a great second half of the 2018 season, Robinson was given just a one-year contract by Dorsey as he needed to prove he could be the long-term answer.

So far, he hasn’t proven to be the guy they need. That doesn’t mean he should be cast aside because Robinson would be a great option as a swing tackle — or perhaps could battle for the right tackle spot. However, the Browns do need a new blindside protector which is what they get here in Alex Leatherwood.

The Alabama product has played all over the line for the Crimson Tide but has been at his best since sliding over to the left tackle spot when Jonah Williams turned pro. Leatherwood is a mammoth player at 6-foot-6 and 310-pounds but despite his size, his best attribute is his ability to move his feet and win with his athleticism.

This doesn’t mean he can’t dominate with power, because he’s got that going for him as well. He does need some technique refinement but that’s the case with just about any rookie.

Leatherwood is a solid pick and will slide into the most important offensive line position and hold that down for the next decade-plus.
