Entering this season, it appeared the Cleveland Browns were set at the free safety position with Damarious Randall. Now with 12 games over, it’s become apparent that Randall isn’t going to be on this team in 2020.

Playing on the final year of his contract, Randall hasn’t had the same impact on the field as he did a year ago. Not only that, but he was left home during the team’s recent road trip to Pittsburgh and the rumors floating around social media suggest he skipped practice.

More. What's the deal with Damarious Randall?. light

Even with Randall on the field, the Browns need help at safety, but now that he’s all but gone, they really need to address the back end of the secondary. They do that here and get some great value out of their second-round pick with Ashtyn Davis from Cal.

Davis is an absolute ballhawk that has no fear when playing the game. He understands the routes receivers run which allows him to get in front of the ball and make plenty of plays. He’s also a willing tackler despite being listed under 200-pounds.

For his career, Davis has 166 tackles, 12 pass defenses, seven interceptions, and three forced fumbles. He could provide Cleveland the kind of defensive game-changer they believed they had in Damarious Randall.
