The second pick in the third round was a hard one to make. The Browns not only need wide receiver depth, but they also could use some help at defensive tackle. In the end, wideout won in that round because the third receiver will be on the field more than a third defensive tackle.

Still, that’s a big need and they go after it here with Missouri’s Jordan Elliott. There’s a lot to like about this kid and Benjamin Solak of The Draft Network says he was “built in a lab” and likes the explosiveness he plays with.

"“First step is explosive and deep, and he accordingly excels as an interior gap shooter as well as a slanter, with good hip mobility and ankle flexibility to present a large surface inside gaps and retain his balance as he’s work laterally. Explosiveness also flashes in pursuit of QB and RB alike; closes distance quick to his target and is regularly generating sacks and TFLs for his teammates given his disruptive profile. High-ceiling even considering his impressive production/film so far in 2019; sky’s the limit.” — Solak, The Draft Network"

Cleveland is solid in terms of starters at the position with Sheldon Richardson and Larry Ogunjobi on the roster. And Richardson has been turning it up as of late which is very encouraging going forward.

The problem is there’s not a lot to get hyped about behind them. Elliott is an excellent fit in that role because he won’t be asked to do too much. That will allow him time to develop as a player while still giving him the time on the field he needs to showcase his athleticism.
