How can Baker help himself?

When you are in the thick of things it is hard to examine exactly where everything went wrong. That is why it is paramount that Baker Mayfield performs a deep self-scouting of himself during the offseason.  He must be honest with himself if he truly wants to get back on the path to becoming an elite NFL quarterback.

Honesty is the key. It would be easy to say, that he wasn’t put in the correct position to succeed and put the onus on those around him. Even if that is true, that doesn’t mean that he fulfilled his end of the bargain. Mayfield needs to find his how, what, when, and most importantly his why.

How can he approach this offseason in a way that gives himself the best opportunity for success? What changes can and should be made, both physically and mentally? When did he get off track during the last offseason? And finally, the why, why was this season not good enough? Why is being good just not good enough?

If Mayfield is able to answer those questions honestly and head into the offseason with an open mind, he will give himself the best chance at reaching the next level as a quarterback. But, conversely, if changes aren’t made and Mayfield approaches this offseason like he did the last offseason, it is doubtful that he will reach his potential.
