Dud: Damarious Randall

Damarious Randall has not had a good season for the Cleveland Browns, which was not expected after his strong first season wearing the brown and orange. The transition to Steve Wilks’ defense has not been kind to Randall, and that was apparent on Sunday.

Randall has not been the playmaking safety he was hoping to be for the Browns, and has instead been a liability for the Browns defense. That occurred again on Sunday, especially when he allowed a touchdown to Ravens tight end Mark Andrews.

Playing in zone coverage, Randall played the deep middle third of the field. Despite being in this area of the field, Randall allowed Andrews to run a seam route past him, allowing a 39-yard touchdown to Andrews. Randall then went to yelling at Denzel Ward after the touchdown.

Randall has struggled on the field and off the field in the 2019. He has not been the emotional leader he was a year prior and has allowed several big plays. He has also been fairly reckless when coming up to make a tackle from his safety spot.

Being in a contract year, it has not been the type of season Randall needed, and Sunday did not help his case.
