Dud: Steve Wilks

Steve Wilks has been dealt a difficult hand as the Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator this season. He has lost several key defensive starters this season, forcing him to put band aids over large wounds for most of the season.

However, even with that being the case, his scheme allowed several Ravens players to run wide open on Sunday. Cleveland dealt with several blown coverages, especially with Ravens running backs able to run wide open out of the backfield.

Cleveland had no answer for defending the Ravens tight ends and running backs in the passing game. That has generally been the case for Ravens opponents this season, but the Browns had no answer, especially in the second half.

Wilks had a solid first half calling the Browns defense, but let things unravel in the final two minutes of the half. From then on out, Greg Roman had Wilks’ number and Wilks could not respond with stops.

Although the Browns did well to limit the Ravens wide receivers, they were unable to limit much else. The Ravens offense had another big game, and Wilks was only able to keep it from reaching a huge number.
