Cleveland Browns: 7-round mock draft addresses major holes
By Randy Gurzi
After having to sit out the fifth-round, the Browns are back on the clock in ROund 6. At this point, they start looking for diamonds in the rough as there are very few, if any, finished products late in the draft. Instead, they grab a player with a trait they like and try to work with them on everything else.
Tyler Clark from Georgia plays a position in need of depth as the Browns have had a lot of turnover at defensive tackle in recent years. They’re fine with their starters with both Larry Ogunjobi and Sheldon Richardson playing fine but they need someone behind them that can offer some help.
Clark is a strong player who plays with aggression. He’s a solid 300-pounds and hard to move. He should be able to log some snaps as a rookie and could become a steal.
With their final pick in this 2020 mock draft, the Cleveland Browns gran Penn State cornerback Tariq Castro-Fields. At 6-foot-0 and 197-pounds, he has the kind of size that defensive coordinators crave. He’s also a smart player who understands routes and can react accordingly.
He does struggle with physical play and can find himself getting flagged due to this. Even with those problems, he’s had his best season in 2019 recording 48 tackles and two interceptions.
This season, Cleveland ended up playing a lot of inexperienced players at the position as Denzel Ward and Greedy Williams battled hamstring injuries. With that happening, they understand how important it is to keep looking for talent at the bottom of the secondary roster.
