One player to extend: Joe Schobert, Linebacker

While Chris Hubbard being released is highly probable, this one may not be as cut and dry — although it should be. Joe Schobert has been the best linebacker on the Browns the past three seasons and has recorded at least 100 tackles in all three of those years.

In all, the former fourth-round pick has 386 tackles, seven forced fumbles, and six interceptions (including four this season) in his four years with the Browns. And all this comes after recording just 16 tackles as a rookie.

Schobert is also one of the most popular players on the team. Fans love his no-nonsense approach to the game and his ability to make clutch plays — as he did when he recovered a fumble with less than a minute to go in overtime against the Steelers in Week 1 of the 2018 season.

Unfortunately, kicker Zane Gonzalez missed the short field goal and the game ended in a tie, but Schobert nearly gave them a win to start the season.

Even with all that he’s done on the field, Schobert hasn’t received an offer for an extension. Hopefully that will change when the season ends because No. 53 is a big part of this defense.
