3. Wide Receiver No. 3

Jarvis Landry was Cleveland’s top receiver once again in 2019. The second-year Brown had 83 receptions for 1,174 yards and six touchdowns — all of which led the team. Odell Beckham, Jr. was second in each of those categories, gaining 1,035 yards on 74 receptions and scored four touchdowns.

From there, it was running backs Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb followed by tight ends Demetrius Harris and Ricky Seals-Jones. You have to get past all of them before finding the next best wide receiver this year as Damion Ratley was seventh on the team with 12 receptions. That’s quite the drop off in production from wideouts.

That wasn’t the expectation going into the season as Cleveland had high hopes for both Antonio Callaway and Rashard Higgins. Neither delivered as Callaway was suspended four games to start this season and released not long after when he was suspended another 10 by the NFL.

As for Higgins, he spent the majority of the season in Freddie Kitchen’s dog house — only coming out in Week 10 to catch a game-winning touchdown against Buffalo. That was his only score on the season and one of just four receptions for Higgins.

Cleveland needs to find someone to fill the third wide receiver role. This isn’t to say they need to spend an early draft pick of land a high-priced free agent but they need someone who can make defenses pay for focusing too much on OBJ and Landry.
