Cam Erving, Guard, Kansas City Chiefs

Cameron Erving is another former lineman for the Browns who is contributing to the Chiefs’ fast-paced offense. While no longer a starter, Erving still sees the field plenty through personnel changes.

He was a questionable first-round pick in 2015 that was projected to take over for the departed Alex Mack but never really panned out for the Browns. He was often singled out by fans for his egregious mistakes and never seemed to improve technically.

Many fans will remember watching lowlight videos of Erving being absolutely manhandled in his blocks and his random whiffs that came up at the worst possible moments.

There were many times during his tenure that fans called for him to be cut. While all of this happened, the Browns did him no favors by moving him around the line, never allowing him to settle into a position. When John Dorsey joined the Browns as the GM, he had clearly seen enough. In 2018, Erving was traded to Kansas City for a fifth-round pick, which was used to select Genard Avery (who was oddly traded in the middle of the 2019 season, but that’s another discussion). In the end, Erving will always be a symbol for how poor the 2015-2017 seasons were, for better or worse.
