Adam Trautman, TE, Dayton

I don’t know if there’s a player outside of Josh Jones who has had their stock rise more during the Senior Bowl practices than Adam Trautman. As weird as it is to have another non-FBS player on this list, it couldn’t be more accurate.

The Dayton Flyer has been all the rage this week for his ability and mentality. Trautman is a 6-foot-6, 251-pound blocking tight end who has surprised teams with his route running and pass-catching abilities.

The blocking abilities of Trautman we well know and helped land him on preseason watchlist for NFL scouts. While he was productive in the passing game at Dayton, 70 catches for 916 yards and 14 total touchdowns, there was a question of how he’d perform against high-level linebackers and defensive backs. Trautman has passed multiple tests with flying colors this week and moved himself up many teams’ draft boards.

With many inconsistencies at tight end for the Browns this year, it is important they bring in fresh talent to challenge for the starting role, or at least the second on the field when they go to double tight end sets.

If Trautman is available when the Browns make their first pick in the third round, I would find it hard to justify passing on the multi-faceted tight end.

With the teams’ well-documented struggles in the red zone this past season, Trautman could be a game-breaking option for the Browns and franchise quarterback Baker Mayfield.
