Round 2, Pick: Leki Fotu, DT, Utah

Trade: Browns get pick No. 62, No. 126
Green Bay Packers get No. 41

Again, we landed a trade here, giving up the No. 41 pick overall in Round 2. In exchange, we landed the 62nd pick in the same round from the Green Bay Packers as well as their 126th pick in the fourth round.

As was the case with the first round, it was a gamble to drop down, but the player I was after remained on the board again, and we added one more mid-round pick that could turn into a contributor.

Cleveland’s defense had some struggles in 2019 but where they really fell flat was in run defense. According to NFL.com, the Browns were 30th in the league with 144.7 rush yards surrendered per contest. That’s something they have to fix going forward and they make a huge addition here to help in that regard with Utah’s Leki Fotu.

An absolute monster on the defensive line, Fotu measures up at 6-foot-5 and 337-pounds. Despite his massive frame and ability to push people around with power, Fotu also possesses some agile feet and can disrupt the opposing offensive line with his foot quickness.

He won’t be considered a three-down player but the Browns need a guy who can make the stops on those early downs to make third-downs actually matter. Not only that, but no one questions a nose tackle’s value when they can come in and stuff things at the goal line either. This pick will do wonders for the entire defense as his ability to destroy blockers will help the whole line improve.
