Case Keenum

The first quarterback on this list is Case Keenum. With 62 NFL games started, Case Keenum could provide great experience to help Baker Mayfield get back on track with his growth towards becoming an elite NFL quarterback.

More from Dawg Pound Daily

A fellow Texas native, Keenum was an undrafted quarterback out of Houston in 2012 and has established himself in the NFL as one of the best undrafted quarterbacks in the past 20 years.

Keenum is best known for completing the Minneapolis Miracle and leading the Minnesota Vikings to a 11-3 record as a starter and to the NFC Championship game in 2017. Throughout his career Keenum has made a total of $32,681,151 according to spotrac. With that nice hunk of cash, he could be looking to find a role on a competitive team is a backup quarterback to try to get a championship ring, instead of looking for another starting role.

Keenum was given the official starting job for the Denver Broncos and had a lackluster performance, so his career as a full-time starter should be over. He was traded to the Redskins to help mentor rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins and would eventually lose his starting job, most likely ending his career as a starting quarterback in the NFL. Unless one of the teams drafting a rookie quarterback throw him a rich contract, he would be a very realistic get for the Cleveland Browns.

With the Browns hoping to make a playoff run this year, it would be very beneficial to have a quarterback in the building who has actually won a playoff game before as a starting quarterback. Keenum is 1-1 in the playoffs, both games coming in 2017, so he could help Baker adjust from the regular season to the playoffs too. If anything were to happen to Baker, it would be great to have a quarterback of Case Keenum’s caliber to help keep the team on track.
