Round 4, Pick 105: Damien Lewis, IOL, LSU

Last season, the Browns parted ways with Kevin Zeitler last season. The right guard was one of the better players on the team but general manager John Dorsey wanted to bolster up the defensive line and used Zeitler to land Olivier Vernon from the New York Giants.

Vernon, who is suddenly involved in a topic of debate as to whether or not he’s going to be on the team this season, played well for them but missed six games. He did improve the line though when he was on the field but Cleveland didn’t adequately replace Zeitler.

Austin Corbett was the first man to try but the 33rd overall pick in 2018 ended the season with the Los Angeles Rams after being unable to secure the spot — or the backup center role. Wyatt Teller and Eric Kush also had their chances but no one held the job down for long or made a convincing argument to be the guy in 2020.

While Cleveland will likely add someone in free agency, they also will have to go for some more youth in the upcoming draft. Here, they do that by adding Damien Lewis out of LSU. A JUCO transfer that started the past two seasons for the Tigers, Lewis has starting potential and should be a great find for a team such as the Browns that want to improve their ground game.

The 329-pound Lewis might not ever develop into a Pro Bowler but he looks the part of a starter in the NFL and again, this is a great value pick for the Browns.
