3. Jack Conklin, Offensive Tackle, Tennessee Titans

Projected contract per overthecap.com: 5 years-$14m avg/yr, $34m guaranteed, $70m total

Jack Conklin is set to hit the open market, and it is rare that this quality of a tackle hits free agency.

Conklin had a strong season in a contract year for the Tennessee Titans, ranking 12th among all tackles in PFF grade (78.3) and fifth in run blocking grade (81.0). Conklin is very solid in the run game, ranking sixth in zone runs and 14th on gap runs. Ranking sixth on zone runs is a very good fit with the Browns scheme, where Nick Chubb was one of the best when it came to the zone run game.

Conklin fits Kevin Stefanski’s wide zone run scheme; however, he has had a rough time pass blocking the past two seasons. His pass-blocking grade ranks him 49th in the entire league over the past two seasons.

Despite mediocre pass-blocking, the Browns should seriously consider paying Conklin. His run-blocking versatility is perfect for a backfield that has Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Not only this but no matter what flaws he may have, he’s an upgrade over Chris Hubbard at this point.

There will be many teams vying for Conklin’s services, and the Browns should be one of them.
