No. 2: Ereck Flowers Sr., OG

The Browns have three holes to fill along its offensive line. Ereck Flowers Sr. would fill the need at right guard. While some would prefer a tackle to be signed, this Browns front office structure already went down this road of signing a top guard once before.

The brain trust of Andrew Berry, Sashi Brown and Paul DePodesta signed Kevin Zeitler in 2017 and at the time made him the top paid guard in all of football. Certainly placing a high emphasis on this position, expect to see the Browns front office do this again and concentrate on obtaining a starting tackle through the draft.

Flowers is in talks with the Redskins on re-signing, but with Pro Bowl guard Brandon Scherff a free agent as well, it may be hard for Washington to keep both players.

Now signing Flowers does not exclude the Browns from signing a starting tackle, it just decreases the chances. But they still would fill a major hole on the offensive line by bringing Flowers aboard.

And by all accounts he is the type of player who would make sense for the Browns having been coached by now Browns offensive line coach Bill Callahan. Flowers was a failed left tackle for the New York Giants and the former first round pick was cut in 2018 and signed with Jacksonville. After signing with Washington in 2019, the 25-year-old’s play at the guard position was very solid.

Flowers, who played left guard in Washington, would have to adjust to the right guard position if signed by Cleveland. Hopefully that is something that would come naturally for him, but that could be easier said than done.
