Whatever the Browns decide to do with safety Damarious Randall, they will still need help at the safety position for this year and moving forward. Randall’s production was not all that impressive last season —  also being a healthy scratch late last year was quite concerning.

More from Browns News

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix will be entering his seventh season in 2020 and if he does not return to the Chicago Bears, he would be on his fourth team in just those seven years.

Clinton-Dix took a $3 million deal last season, seemingly a contract he agreed upon so that he could show people that he still has stuff left in the tank. Last year, he recorded 78 total tackles with two interceptions. In comparison, Randall had only 61 total tackles last year with no interceptions.

While Clinton-Dix seems to be an upgrade from Randall, there are plenty of other names in the safety pool that they could look at, such as Tony Jefferson and Jimmie Ward. Again, Clinton-Dix is going to want more money this year after coming off of his decent season.

The Browns could also try the draft to land a potential long term answer in the secondary, taking a look at some of the guys who lead the board this draft season. Guys like Grant Delpit and Ashtyn Davis would both be solid fits. Whatever the Browns choose to do, Clinton-Dix is on the back end of top options to improve the secondary.
